Inside the song
Story & meaning
Snow lies on the mountains, wind moves around the house, and the hearth still burns. The people who lived here have gone. Their absence is felt in the things that remain: stones, remembered words and names that can still be spoken.
Winter passes and summer follows. “I remember” opens into “we remember”, making remembrance a shared responsibility. Keeping the fire alight is a way of caring for those who will come after, who may one day find warmth where we stood. A name can live on when someone carries it forward.
